Convening Ministry Leaders

Why: Ministry leaders have shown a desire to integrate the biblical message of generosity into their networks of donors, staff and beneficiaries.

Who: Todd Peterson, Daryl Heald, Henry Kaestner, David Wills, Sas Conradie

Project Description: We look to gather leaders of ministries and make them aware of the current resources as well as the organizations that can help them create original content for their discipleship curricula. HOPE International integration of Crown Financial Materials

Why: HOPE International has 370,000+ borrowers that it provides loans to and also offers discipleship. HOPE is partnering with Crown and will use their “God Provides” film series to communicate the biblical messages of stewardship and generosity to loan recipients.

Who: Peter Greer, Henry Kaestner

Project Description: Video resource packs will be distributed across HOPE’s network including a DVD player, protective carrying case and set of DVD’s. HOPE has already raised half of the funding needed, and this other half ($40,000) will go to translate the materials into Kinyarwanda. This translation will enable all HOPE clients (many of whom cannot read) to hear the story of God’s provision in their heart language.

Produce a new video about a personal story of radical generosity

Why: We have found that real-life stories are powerful motivators for generosity. We would like to reinforce the success of the narrative videos we have produced thus far (“Mizoram Handful of Rice” and “Bishop Hannington”) with a new story highlighting a different region of the world.

Who: Nic McLean or Jesse Oxford on production. Henry Kaestner, Mike Schneider, Brett Elder, Sas Conradie

Project Description: We are currently reviewing several stories from the Dominican Republic, Zimbabwe, and Eastern Europe. Once the story is finalized, we will send one of the top videographers to shoot on site. Promotion will be through many channels and networks like Lausanne and WEA.

God So Love, He Gave: entering the movement of diving generosity

by: Kelly M. Kapic, Justin L. Borger

The God who created a good and perfect world, but whose world turned from him, has brought restoration through gift: The Father loved the world and gave the Son, and the Father and the Son pour out the gift of the Spirit into the hearts of humanity bringing about praise, hope, and new creation. Those who are united to the Son by his Spirit then find they have received the glorious gift of God’s coming Kingdom. In other words, the Gospel is shaped by giving: God’s generosity buys us out of bondage and brings us into all the blessings of belonging. But the good news is not only that God has made us to be recipients of his grace but also participants in the movement of his divine justice and generosity. Living in God’s gifts, Christians discover they are free to give themselves. The cross and resurrection of Christ come to shape and define this new life of faith, hope and generosity—a life that is best lived not in isolation but as a community. Throughout the book special attention is given to the relationship between divine generosity and concern for the poor and oppressed. Kapic and Borger encourage readers to not simply discover the immensity of God’s grace, but to enter into the flow of divine generosity as God has invited them to become avenues of his great gifts to the world.
